NACC: No Heresy Too Great: Take a Stand – Actions
– All who carry the title “United Church” as part of the name for their
congregation; all who have retained UCC membership over this past half century;
all who stood with their denomination after its so-called “Christian” testimony
on same-sex marriage before the Supreme Court, bear responsibility for the
denomination’s apostate conduct and the negative impact the UCC witness has had
on the course of Canadian governance and society. From here forward there appears to be only three possible courses
of action among the stakeholders involved:
(1) Status Quo: Reformers
will carry-on much as before, paying their denominational dues, voicing
consternation primarily amongst themselves, turning minority orthodox position
in an apostate denomination into a lifelong burden and socializing
mechanism. The extent of their
disillusionment and falling membership will drive them to lobby people, who
know they should leave, to remain.
These once ardent, articulate and youthful evangelicals have said it all
a dozen times to their liberal-minded associates; they now risk the fate of
being historically cast as believers who voluntarily endured all measure of
heresy, not for the sake of authentic Gospel witness, but for some selfish
sense of denominational loyalty. Their
initially virtuous cause (thirty years ago), is eclipsed by the reality that no
victories were won and, more important, no heresy seemed quite enough to
separate them from a UCC pew. The
majority in the UCC will continue to be civil, but generally ignore the
“Reformers,” never yielding in their religious pursuit of liberalism. Those in positions of power within the UCC
will continue to use their quote: “largest Protestant Christian denomination”
claim to influence society and Canadian Christendom to embrace homosexism. Outside the UCC, orthodox and liberal
believers will continue to associate and fellowship with the denomination as if
it holds a rightful place within God’s kingdom. The Evangelical Fellowship will continue to flounder in policy
towards the United Church. The
influence of authentic Christianity in Canada will continue in decline. The country will continue further away from
God and away from blessing.
(2) Integration: Reformers
will remain within the denomination and continue to mask more than expose the
true nature of the UCC. The public
onlooker will always be confused by double-minded messages – “Yes, the
denomination is apostate; however, not enough that we wish to leave.” “Yes, the denomination is apostate; however,
‘our’ United Church is not.”
Paradoxically, a denomination that claims to be “inclusive” enough to
hold both liberal and evangelical is more marketable than one devoid of
orthodox members. A cult or counterfeit
church seeks to look authentic.
Ironically, reformers within the denomination help this cause, unless
they are subversive - picketing head office or totally disrupting the liberal
agenda, which has never been the case.
In Integration the UCC is not inhibited in pursuing its liberal
ecumenical ideology within Christendom.
Other denominations and the Catholic Church continue to listen to their
liberal dogma and agenda. The UCC
succeeds in its strategic goals while the Reformers decline in numbers mostly
through natural causes. The Evangelical
Fellowship will continue to have no official policy towards the United
Church. The influence of authentic
Christianity in Canada will continue in decline. The worldview of religious liberalism will ascend.
(3) Separation: Reformers, recognizing the quandary of remaining within an apostate denomination, and acknowledging the futility of their renewal efforts, will give notice to the United Church of Canada that they must leave. “Encouraged and supported” by the EFC in these efforts, the ex-reformers are welcomed into evangelical churches across Canada. Evangelicals and Catholics unite in their declaration of opposition to the doctrines and operating principles of the UCC. Christendom isolates itself from the United Church and focuses on building a new and proper solidarity behind the authentic Christian worldview. The EFC (and the Catholic Church) will develop a clear policy on association with the UCC, something along the lines of associating with Mormons or Jehovah’s Witness. The issue is not about the sincerity, the intellectual capacity, or the generosity exhibited by these organizations and their people, including the UCC. The issue is the Gospel truth and using God’s Word as the basis for fellowshipping and a shared solidarity of Spirit.
